What did the US Constitution and the Articles of confederation allow the government to do and not to do?
I need to know what the Us Constitution and the Articles of Confederation allow the government to do such as taxes, government set up, what the branches are allowd to do, ect. I also need to know what they did not allow the government to do. Thanks.
Answer:
The Constitution allowed Congress(legislative) to lay and collect taxes, regulate commerce, print money, create laws, punish those who use or make counterfiet money, establish and maintain an army. Theres a bunch more but i cant remember. The branches have a system of checks and balances so that the branches have equal power and that they wont become too powerful. The government is divided into three branches. The legislative (makes the laws) the judicial (upholds the laws) and the executive (executes the laws) The government cannot pass an ex post facto law which is a law that makes an action illegal after committed. The government cannot grant titles of nobility. cannot violate the bill of rights. cant impose export taxes among the states. The Articles of confederation didnt allow the government to lay taxes. thats all i remember ;;
