I was watching a show on the return of modern piracy and they had two men of interest.
One of them was a former Commander from the USN that now worked as a maritime shipping consultant.
The other was just former British Navy, maritime security consultant.
What would these guys have done in the Navy that would qualify them for these positions?
Answer:
Probably just regular surface warfare officer.
EDIT
Or been part of the joint anti terrorism task force even though that is relatively new.

Lisbon - Seeing The Home Of Renowned Explorers
There are special places in the world that carry a feeling of excitement and romance all throughout it. An example of one of these cities is Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal. Lisbon is located right on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, which of course means it has beautiful beaches. In addition, it has bleach-white limestone buildings, stunning castles, and intimate cobblestone streets. There is so much history in the air in Lisbon, and if you are thinking of experiencing a little bit of the excitement, you will need to get a passport first. Here are some tips on how to get an American passport.
Most people would laugh at the phrase "fast passports." Combining the time needed to travel to the post office of passport office, wait in line, fill out an application, and then all the months it takes to process is a ridiculous amount of time to get a passport. The good news is that this isn't the only option anymore. Now you can get your passport in no time online. Online passport services offer things like emergency passport renewal to help you get passports in a matter of days.
The most recognizable attraction in this city is Belem Tower. This breathtakingly ornate, sparkling white fortress was built in 1515 in order to protect the harbor. The fortress was declared by UNESCO to be a World Heritage Site, in order to commemorate the age when Portugal was out discovering the rest of the world.
Cristo Rei is another very popular landmark in Portugal. It is a 100 meter tall building that sits across the Tejo River. Of course, the views from the top are absolutely incredible.
Jeronimos Monastery is yet another absolutely incredible sight. This Monastery is a very big Gothic-style church that was constructed in the year 1502. It stands as a monument to the successful voyage of Vasco de Gama, as well to the Virgin Mary, who they say oversaw the voyage and guaranteed its success. The inside of the Monastery is just as spectacular as the outside, as carries a theme of the sea. For example, the inside is decorated with painting of sea monsters and fish. The monks of the Monastery were there to pray for the success and well-being of the sailors. Vasco de Gama, among others, is buried inside the Monastery.
Because Lisbon is so near to the sea and because so much of its history has to do with the ocean, it's easy to understand how important it is to the people of Lisbon. Definitely try to make a stop at the Oceanarium. The Oceanarium is home to an absolutely huge tank - one that is the size of four Olympic-sized swimming pools. This huge tank is separated by almost invisible panels that separate different ocean "habitats." These habitats represent an ocean ecosystem where different marine organisms live. For example, there is an Antarctic region where you can see penguins, and there is also a tropical region full of sharks and tropical fish.
Lisbon is a city that holds close to its maritime history of exploration, and when you visit, you will feel the thrill of adventure and romance in the atmosphere. If Lisbon sounds like a place you'd love to go, start by going online to a passport processing site, and let them help you learn how to get a passport. All sorts of services are available from these sites, with emergency US passport renewal being one of them.
