Frequently Asked Questions...
How do I hook up two outboard motors on a boat?
My grandpa is giving me a 15ft fiberglass boat and two motors. Not sure if they are the same hp or not. The boat is pretty much just a shell, but I would like a boat with a steering wheel. I dont think just one of the motors would be enough, and would like to use both, but dont even know where to start or what I would need. Thanks!

The Best Things to Understand When it Comes to Boating Basics
Boating generally is one of the best leisure activities, whether you enjoy it for going fishing, doing water sports or just enjoying the appeal of a lake. Boats with outboard motors are probably the most popular among those who own lakefront property and those who spend a lot of time fishing or doing various other lake activities. One of the reasons that these boats are so preferred is that they are both very affordable and easy to care for when compared with other types of boats. Nonetheless, it does not mean that there is no care at all needed in order to maintain your outboard motor boat in good shape.
One of the recommendations for outboard motor care is to understand the various parts of the outboard motor. Whether it is the propellers or the actual engine, having a basic familiarity with these elements will help you learn about what your outboard motor parts needs in terms of maintenance. When purchasing a boat, make sure you inquire about the brand of motor that you are buying as well. There are all types of outboard motors, from Johnson outboard motors to Yamaha outboard motors to Evenrude outboard motors. Each one is slightly different and will need very specific outboard motor parts should you ever need to replace or fix your motor.
Along with learning about your outboard motor parts and brand, it is also helpful to keep a few practical ideas in mind each and every time that you simply go out on your boat. First, remember to always be extremely vigilant about safety while using an outboard motor. Because the motor is exposed, it presents extra hazards to anyone near the boat, specifically while the motor is running. Educate everyone in your family, including small children, about the importance of staying clear of the outboard motor all the time. Only experienced adults should be permitted to touch or operate the motor.
Next, there are a few things that you can do each and every time you come back from being out on your boat that will extend the life of your outboard motor significantly. First, ensure that you flush out the engine after every trip, whether you are in salt water or fresh water. Ensure that you check that the water pump is sustaining a good water flow and that the water being filtered through the engine is not too hot. Last, wipe down the motor and lubricate all of the outboard motor components with a spray such as WD 40. This will help your outboard motor be in top shape for future trips and will save you funds in relation to obtaining new parts or a new outboard motor for your boat.
