Frequently I stay awake at night on my divans thinking about how I could induce sleep! Seriously; I did, it absolutely was no joke. Actually I got to the level where I really didn't look forward to the end of the day as I knew that that's when the battle would begin. So I set to and created it my mission to figure out how to help me get some decent shut-eye.
I have tried using all of the following to various levels of success. The last one is the remedy I've stayed with as it works effectively to me, but all of us are unique so try them all & see what works well for you. I hope you discover 1 that does. Start a bedtime routine- such as going to bed at the exact same time (even if you don't feel sleepy). Don't forget it will take 2 weeks for a behaviour style to turn into a habit therefore don't give up after a few nights if nothing appears to be happening any differently.
Old fashioned, I know, however it can work. Always get a warm milky drink before going to bed. This is scientifically proven to help induce sleep. Pay attention to the spot where you sleep. During anytime of the day can be helpful, but specifically at night right before you wish to get to sleep.
If necessary, decide to sleep on mattress in the spare room (in case you have one) when you normally sleep having a partner. Occasionally the stress of thinking you are keeping somebody else awake since you can't sleep acts as a vicious circle and just gets you more stressed. Try some non-prescription herbal/natural remedies. In case they don't work for you certainly they will not give you any agonizing negative effects & you may stop taking them instantly. You won't need to wean yourself off them.Try; if possible, to sleep whenever you feel tired- even if it appears unsociable. At least sleep when you're able to & then try out a few of the above ideas once you're not so fractious. Try alternative remedies such as reflexology, Acupuncture or massage. These work on your brain, body & spirit and could very well get through to the cause of the problem without needless medication.
